Worth visiting!
I live in Ketchikan for twenty-three years. It was a great place to grow up in. You’ve got the outdoors, a fairly close-knit community, and Alaska island living. The people make it a great place as well as the fishing. If you are a mall-addict this isn’t the place for you but I’m glad that I spent my formative years there.

The coffee and beignets are delicious and its a fun place to stop for refreshments considering how long it has been around. The beignets were super messy but yummy. Its worth a stop between meals for a little carb overload and a tasty cup of joe.

Seeing how much still needs to be done in New Orleans is shocking. Everywhere you turn there are empty homes, FEMA trailers, trees down, buildings in ruins, and a major need of rebuilding and renovation. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Almost a year from when the disaster hit it is devistated. Someone told us that prior to Katrina there were 1.2 million people living in N.O. and no there are between 300,000 and 450,000 people left. It was no surprise when you considered the thousands of homes we saw sitting empty.
The food is certainly good. :-)
