I lived in New Orleans (Lakeview) for 10 years and hve lived in a suburb of N.O for 6 years. New Orleans was my undisputed favorite place to go up until late August of this year (2005). I know the media is saying that New Orleans is “coming back,” but don’t believe anything until you actually SEE the damage that was done in Lakeview, parts of Mid-City, and the East. Sure the French Quarter and Uptown are pretty much untouched, but the places that I grew up with and became attached to are now just a memory, which pretty much blows. You should see New Orleans, just to see the scale of damage that was done.

I lived here for 2 weeks and was completely miserable (though this was probably due to the fact that I was evacuating from Hurricane Katrina). Sorry if I am insulting your hometown, but I absolutely hate(d) Lake Charles.

I went to Kent about 2 weeks ago, and I think that it is definitely one of the most beautiful places in New England. Though you will probably not be able to stay over night (unless you know someone who lives there), you should without a doubt visit this place if you’re looking to get away from chaos for a while.
