Shanghai is with out a doubt one of my favorite stomping grounds. I went to a special Chinese language program from 1982 and 1983. It was a unique time to get a glimpse in at the China pre-boom. Both sombering and inspiring, even then you knew the city would rebound quickly.

Lived here on an off for several years. Have to say that even with the change of control the city continues to be special in every way imaginable.

Maybe a great city can be defined by some combination of these attributes – brilliant architecture, an active civic dialogue, great food (often related to how active the dialogue gets), cutlure of all kinds, and shopping.

If so, then Chicago will never be second to any.

I spent a year here with a US non-profit. The work experience was extreme, but the city was almost too beautiful to be believed. I had an attic apartment that looked across at the Vltava and the Castle across the river.

Many superlatives. The ones that come to mind are – Architecture, music, people, beer, the Christmas market.

Be warned through, it is one of the coldest places I have ever spent a winter.

You hear so much about the city these days, that I feel a look see is required. Plus Ramesh Balsekar is there.

Used to live in Macao (many, many, many years ago) but lived over a restaurant owned by a Goan family. Never quite sure how they got to south China, but that is the essence of Macao.

Now want to visit to practice yoga, get some sun and eat.

How can you not want to visit? The description you most often hear is the NorCal of Africa – food and wine, people, art, music, ...
