We had a wonderful stay, complete with nightly entertainment and blueberry pancakes for breakfast, courtesy of our fabulous host and hostess. There’s also a very fine, very Welsh, action view!

I really wish we could give proper titles to our 43 Places posts, again, ‘cause I’m giving up this place, and the only entry titles from which I can choose are: “Why I want to go to this place,”A question I have about this place, “A story about this place, “A rumor [sic] about this place,” “What I want to do at this place,” and “What I imagine this place to be like.” What was the matter with choosing our own titles, that it had to be “fixed” this way?

I’m really psyched about seeing Benji and Speedy, there, tomorrow. Sure to be a great time.

Duh, I can’t believe I’ve neglected to list Manchester as a place I want to visit, until now. I’ll be there in two and a half weeks, and I’ve never looked forward to anything so much.

I’ll be going there to watch the football, of course! No, really, I have a much better reason to be there.

This place is on the N.W. corner of Granville and Davie. It’s dead, during the day, but packed, after hours. If you show up after midnight, on a Saturday night, you’ll have to wait for a table (but not long; service is fast). This photo was taken shortly before four in the morning, with every table either taken or just being freed. The food is quite good, for the price (cheap), although I hear the take-away is somehow not. Perhaps it depends on which chef is on duty, at the time. The night chefs all seem to be competent.

Ginger used to be just a place for people to meet, before going out. Now, you can stay all night, depending on which night you go. The night to go is Saturday. Other nights are just okay, but Saturday’s when the crowd is largest and most diverse. That’s also when this d.j. plays (sorry, don’t know his name). His sets kick ass; if you love to dance, you’ll love this guy. I just wish the dance floor were larger.

It’s great fun to go with a large group, and even better if you go with a few people and mix with the others, at your table. I’m vegetarian, so I’ve only tried the veggie fry. It’s excellent, and I’m told that the meat is, too.

A very peaceful place, and beautiful (especially in winter).

Libyans are, as a group, the most friendly and hospitable people I’ve ever met. They’re so honest that merchants regularly leave their shops open and unattended in order to visit their friends, down the street. There are many sites to see, but the most worthwhile thing to do in Libya is to make friends! (And don’t miss the beach!)
