Land of Jewel
The First Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehu describe Manipur as the “Land of Jewel.” Local Meiteis call it “Sana Leipak” or “Golden Soil.” It is inhabited by three major communities Kukis, Meiteis and Nagas. The city and its surrounding has many historic place, monuments and scenic places like Imphal War Cemetry where Japanese and British soldiers were buried during Second world War. Kangla Fort is the Palace of the Manipur Maharaja, Loktak Lake,etc.
