Love It!
In a quick two day summer visit, I took my sister and niece to see the Walk of Fame, Universal Studios, and Mann’s Chinese Theatre. We all had a great time!

Wear hiking shoes with knee high socks (if you wear shorts). This is where I had a verrrry close encounter with a rattlesnake. And they don’t sound anything like the friendly little rattle you hear on TV.

This is a good summer trip, because it’s nice and cool.
Must eat somewhere at Fisherman’s Wharf, see Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum, the crookedest street, ride a trolley car, relax in the parks,... Next time I want to see Alcatraz – make reservations months in advance.

Although I’ve never been during Mardi Gras (I hate crowds) I recommend staying in the heart of New Orleans for the best restaurants and sights. Next time I’d like to see the aquarium.

Must see the river walk, the Alamo, the missions, and Sea World. The sights and weather were fantastic when I went in late Spring / early Summer.

was last year when TG and I took our Christmas pictures.
I want to go back – with a warmer coat and hat and mittens and boots – to spend a little more time.

I literally busted my @$$.
I was hiking and fell on some sharp rocks. Turns out I broke my coccyx (tailbone) and was in severe pain for a few weeks when sitting or laying down. Needless to say, I didn’t see much of the Smokies after that.

I was born and raised in Chicago (pronounced shi-CAW-go) in both The City (yes, capital letters intended) and in the ‘burbs. I much prefer The City for several reasons:
- Native Chicagoans are characters. For instance, there are the original yuppies that live in The City, don’t own a car, and commute to work by bus or el; and yuppy wannabees that live in the ‘burbs and commute by train an hour or more each way to The City. Sporting expensive white famous label walking shoes with clean white socks is as much a part of the yuppy uniform as the brown briefcase and ‘commuter beige’ trench coat.
- Weekends in The City are awesome! There is always something to do: museums of science, museums of art, opera theatres, dinner theatres, playhouses, the Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field (da Bears!), Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park (baseball), Blackhawk Stadium (hockey), Chinatown, Little Italy, authentic restaurants of every flavor and ethnicity, Navy Pier, Grant Park (free concerts), Jazz Fest, Chicago Fest, fill-in-the-ethnicity Fest, shopping on the Magnificent Mile, State Street, Water Tower Place, cozy pubs on Rush Street, dramatic bars on Division,... OMG there’s so much more I’m missing.
Going to Chicago for a visit? Let me know! I’ll be glad to point you in the right direction! (I might even go with you!)
