Worth visiting!

Saw the last game before the baseball strike

It was 1994 and I went to see the Bluejays play at Camden Yards, which by the way is a hell of a nice stadium. The strike started the next day. I was in Gaithersburg, on an IBM course. Also went to a Vietnamese restaurant two nights in a row, something I NEVER do. The food was so good we had to go back a second night. And of course we did the sights in DC while we were there.

Winnipeg

A review of this place: Most good restaurants per capita

Had two work trips to Winnipeg over the years. I remember eating really well – Swiss, Chinese, Japanese, etc. There seemed to be no shortage of great restaurants. Nice, medium-sized city, but a little off the beaten path.

Big Island

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Volcano Village

Kona was really nice. We were there a day after the Ironman finished. But we enjoyed the Hilo side of the island a lot as well. We stayed a couple of nights at Volcano Village. You have to go see the lava flowing into the ocean at dark. That’s pretty cool. You HAVE to take the state bird (helicopter) trip over the Mauna Loa at least once. Pricey but worth it.

Honolulu

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Honeymoon visit

HiIghlights included snorkelling at Hanauma Bay. You can actually rent prescription snorkel masks from Snorkel Bob’s on every island! Many, many fish. Catamaran cruise from Waikiki at sunset was very romantic. Pearl Harbor has to be seen at least once. Funny thing to say, but Oahu could easily be a favorite isalnd if it wasn’t for all the other islands.

Alberta

(in Canada)

Worth visiting!

Did a few weeks there

Calgary to Banff to Lake Louise to Jasper to Edmonton to Drumheller and back to Calgary. Stampede in Calgary is a ton of fun. Banff has awesome skiing, of course, but I’ve also been there twice in summer and it’s great year-round. Lake Louise and the glaciers are worth a visit before they melt. Jasper is a great place to stop. Drumheller is for the dinosaur fans. Edmonton – well it has the Mall to end all malls. Hockey in both cities of course. Been to Alberta on vacation 7-8 times and enjoyed it each time.

fantastic

It was 1977 and I was 16. We went there on a high-school trip. The memories are vague but wonderful. What an absolutely entrancing place to visit. I don’t know how someone could NOT be amazed by Paris!

Raleigh

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Haven't figured this one out

I’ve been here a few times, for a total of 4-5 weeks, maybe. There are said to be 100,000 university students within a few miles, what with NCSU, UNC, Duke and Wake Forest. But I don’t knwo where they all hide! Not as exciting a city as one would expect. I remember Raleigh as the place where I learned what it means to be able to cut the humidity with a knife. But it is a beautiful place and seems like a pretty good place to live. great golf courses. Saw my first college football game there and came to understand a little of how crazy that actually is! NC State vs. Pitt and the home team one. Major party!

Columbia

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Southern belles

I was here for a week back in the late ‘80s. I remember it as a beautiful city. It was the first, and last, place I ever shicked and ate raw oysters. Apparently it’s a big deal in Columbia. I’ve been elsewhere in the south, but this is the only large city where I’ve actually felt like I was listening to Gone With the Wind! Real southern belles everywhere you turn.

Corner Brook

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I’m Corner Brook born and raised. One of my first jobs was working in the tourist chalet there. Ask me anything. I’m a big fan, even though I left. Great skiing at Marble Mountain. Becoming somewhat of a German resort destination!

A review of this place

Twice been here on business for a few days at a time and quite enjoy the city. The Arizona-Sonoma Desert Museum was really cool, as cool as a place can be when it’s 105F, that is! Great Tex-Mex food, of course. Beautiful golf courses.
