Stockholm

Worth visiting!

I just got back...

...from my new favourite place on earth. The city is beautiful, the people are beautiful, they dress super well (the place just exudes style), the autumn weather is fantastic. I had a such a good weekend! I will be going back to Sweden again. It’s great.

Terminal 1

Not worth visiting!

I went here...

...last Wednesday. BAA need to do something to sort out this airport. It must be the least efficient airport I’ve ever been in. I was shocked.

Why I want to go to this place

I’m going to Stockholm in September. Booked my tickets tonight. I’m flying over to see a German friend of mine who I met many years ago in New Zealand. She’s there reacquainting herself with the language because she needs to sit a swedish language proficiency test as part of her Masters of Arts. Clever girl.

It’s going to be a great trip. I’ve always wanted to visit Scandinavia. :-)

Notting Hill

Carnival

I went to the Notting Hill Carnival today. I’ve never seen so many people in 1 place in my life. I guess that’s what you get at the worlds largest street party.

News about this place

I’m moving here! It’s pretty big news.

On the 20th of August I’m moving out of Newbury, into my new flatshare with 2 others (who seem VERY nice people) in Caversham, Reading. I’m very excited about it all actually, I get to almost maximise my free company provided accommodation, and then I get to move into a nice, tidy flat, with fun, friendly people.

Woohoo!

How this place changed my life

It moved me away from my old life. New start.

Newbury

Worth visiting!

1 week down

I’ve been living in Newbury just over a week now. The place seems alright. The rumors about it that I had heard were much worse than it’s turned out to be. It’s an old market town in the countryside in england, and it’s just as you expect. There are some quite picturesque parts of it, there’s lots of pubs, the bars and nightclubs are quite average, and everyone here seems to work for Vodafone. Food seems expensive, the Thai here is awful, I’m yet to try some fish n’ chips and a curry, but I’ll bet they’re good. I would like to spend more time here, I’ve met some good people, but I need to find a place to live more permanently, and it sadly won’t be Newbury.

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

Worth visiting!

I went here...

...a couple of years ago. I was over there to speak to some of the guys in the Vodafone Software Development Centre in Bilbao. Vodafone are a corporate sponsor/member of the museum (so I got to go for free). I found Bilbao my favourite place in spain. The people were quite friendly, their accents were softer than the people from Madrid, and the amount of design and architecture work that goes on in that city blew me away. Its a designers haven.

And it has the guggenheim. It rocked. I saw a whole lot of fantastic modern art – this was my first expedition to a real modern art museum. I loved it there.

Wellington

Worth visiting!

Had a fun, fun, fun

time in Welly. Saw my friends Sarah and Steve, saw my friend Brodie, met some new (fun and beautiful) people, found a new fantastic band, did lots of sightseeing and my plane broke down so I had to stay an extra night.

That place is seriously my favorite city in New Zealand. It rocks. The people are super friendly, and the city has a really good vibe about it, and I so want to move there…

Waitakere Ranges

Worth visiting!

The dam

in that photo is really cool (assuming it’s the dam I’m thinking of in the waitak’s). I like dams. I went there a couple of years ago – it was a stinking hot day and you have to walk down a long concrete road, and I had enough of that about halfway down. But, the engineering is impressive, and it’s quite pretty down there. Everyone should visit.
