I would love to go to Saudi Arabia, however as a woman I cannot travel there freely without being bound by sexist restrictions… I wouldn’t even be able to lift that darn abayya to see the sights… What kind of vacation would that be?!

Good times. The Greyhound from LA was $35 round trip, and we found a hostel in Playa that was only $11 a night, and blocks from the beach! The bus was cheap – approximately 55 cents a ride – and it went from our hostel to the downtown/avenida revolucion area back to the greyhound station.

before I moved to Cali. Decent coffee, free wireless (although you can’t plug into their adaptors), and some serious eye candy.

I’m still getting used to it, but the longer I’m here the more I like it. From the center of LA you can drive for an hour in any direction and be at the beach, the mountains, or the desert. If you come here solely for Hollywood, you will get bored and burnt out quickly. but there is definitely far more to do than most people expect. There’s a growing activist/biking/counter-culture community, and a lot of contemporary museums and galleries that are worth checking out. It’s all about going under the surface – because the surface (Hollywood) is really not that interesting.

I love San Francisco, the activist community, the culture, the lifestyle, the vegan food…

I moved here from NY in august. It’s a beautiful place.
