Leave your big-city ideals at home, and just enjoy the little town life. Just outside the Allegany State Park, and the home Zippo make this a nice little town and an enjoyable diversion from big cities.

I was probably 12, I lived here with my family until I was 7, on Sandhill Road.

There is so much to do here, St Armand’s Circle, Ringling Art Museum, John Ringling’s Home, Mote Marine, sailing, fishing, or just hangin out on a beach.

If you like cycling, and like to watch races this is a great place to go and take your kids. During the summer every Thursday evening there are races – and the type varies from week to week.

When I raced there – back in the day – the last Thursday was sprint night, and I loved that more than anything!

My wife and I were hiking around the Olympics on a 11 day trip around. We hiked up and just about killed ourselves on the last 3 miles up and stayed for a couple days. We hiked up Gladys Divide, and eve saw a couple bear.

I spent 5 hours in the park with my 4×5 Field camera – even thought the trail is not very long it’s easy to spend all day there.

Great place for hiking, camping or just a quick day trip through.

Was with an old girlfriend a few years after the Navy and Marines closed up shop and left. It was really strange, since before that the last time I saw it was when I was getting out of the Marines after being stationed here for almost a year.

I was 19 years old in the Marine Corps and 5 of us piled into a pick up and drove from Vallejo to San Fran for New Years Eve, and our driver got arrested! Semper Fi!
