Regent's Park, City of Westminster

Untitled

I lived a block south of this park for a semester abroad. This park is lovely. It’s a great escape from the big city. Especially if the rose garden is in bloom go for a visit.

I miss this place so much!

It was a lovely place to pass through on the way to Camden market!

Japan, Asia

Untitled

Avoid Japan in the Summer. I visited with the intent on teaching English the entire summer through the Guy Healy American Summer Camp. I ended up falling ill due to the heat/humidity and had to come home early. If you don’t handle heat well, just avoid the country(except the northern island) in the summer months.

It’s a lovely country with an amazing culture and helpful, friendly people, but it was NOT the place for me in summer. It was a rather huge disappointment having to come home after only a little over a week.

If you tolerate heat, then go for it, but most guide books will even tell you to visit during another season. I’d love to go back in the Springtime. At least I saw Mt. Fuji….

Cork, County Cork

Weather, Locals, Drunks, not the best time

Out of all the european cities I’ve visited, Cork ranks lowest on the list. Part of this may have had to do with the weather…atrocious winds and rain, but also that a friend of mine was nearly sexually assaulted by a drunken local. That put a damper on the night.

We had a nice time in the pubs we visited, and it was enjoyable taking a bus to Blarney Castle, but Cork wasn’t as exciting as we had hoped it to be. We visited in November, not the best month to visit as most tourist sites were closed for the off season. Additionally, our hostel was the worst accomodation-wise we’ve stayed at. The Kinlay house…beds were terribly uncomfortable, and a group of high school aged students kept everyone up until 3 or 4 each night, and the workers on duty did nothing until someone complained. MAybe it was a string of unlucky happenings, but this was not our favorite stop. We wouldn’t visit again. Killarney is a different story though.
