Found it by accident one day, although I had heard about it. Admission is free so its worth the time it takes to walk through. There are so many cool things to look at and touch in here. Definately on the list of places to bring people when they visit.

Been looking into this and its going to cost almost $1000 for us to go down for three days including hotel, car, and gas.

This is one of the best restaurants Ive been to in the East Bay.

There is one day a week that photography is allowed in the Abbey. I believe its Weds. but it may have changed, and its after evening prayer.
When I was there, I arrived too early, and since I didnt want to sit through prayer, I walked around the cloisters and accidentally founc myself in the private areas reserved for the employees and priests, and it was awesome.
the visitation after mass was very cool too, it was less crowded and the lighting was almost eerie.
I totally recommend going at night.

I was on a cruise, on this tiny tiny ship. I sat on the deck one night and it was pitch black. The air was warm but still I shivered, being in a place that I had dreamed of since childhood.

I have a couple of strange fascinations and Holy land combines two of them: roadside Americana and religious art. Since I cant take a long trip now Im hoping to get a couple of short trips,and a couple of destinations off of my list before summer.

Went last summer around 6 after the lifeguards went off duty. There was no one around and the water was great. Touristy but not horrible. I cant wait to go again.
