Brookfield Zoo

Worth visiting!

Worth the wait

3 years after it was originally supposed to happen. I finally got to go to the Brookfield Zoo for my birthday in November!! It was a grey 50-degree day but not too chilly and all the buildings were extremely warm. Still, the weather kept others away so there was practically no one else there—exactly how I like it! I LOVE the zoo but I hate zoo visitors.

Lies

The water is not clear. I was very disappointed and wanted to go back to St. Pete’s Beach where I could see my feet in the water.

I love the beach here because I always see more wildlife than people. Being a very fair-skinned redhead I have to find other ways of enjoying the beach than trying to get tan. Thus, I love beaches with waildlife and clear water for my viewing pleasure. Thus, I love this beach.

Travelling between Chicago and St. Louis

Joliet is always the place we say we will stop and get gas/food after leaving Chicago by car.

Amtrak makes a stop here and it’s always the one I forget about on the way back to Chicago from St. Louis. It kills me every time. I think I’m almost home and then wait no—we have to stop at Joliet first. It frustrates me, but I do not blame Joliet. It is a nice little place.

Wal-Mart

This was a common stop on my route from St. Louis (home) to Springfield (college). I often stopped here to make a trip tp Wal-Mart since the 5 in Springfield were all always insanely busy, especially on Sunday nights.

Rodeos

My family attended a couple rodeos here when I was young. It was truly an entertaining experience, and the first year we felt very out of place wearing sneakers and sandals instead of cowboy boots. It was a fun time nonetheless.

East St. Louis

It is indeed an armpit of a place. This is where the dirty strip clubs can be found, among other things with which you don’t want to get involved. It surprises/appauls me how many people think this is part of St. Louis.
