Disneyland Park

Worth visiting!

Happiest place on earth indeed.. except for the long lines, the pricey stuff, the amount of people everywhere, crappy food, some corny themed rides, no “extreme” rides… um… other than that it’s preety neat, really!

Geneva

Not worth visiting!

Next!

Geneva is a peaceful city (I mean it should be considering the United Nations office is located there) but like many peaceful cities, there’s not a lot to see.

Switzerland is probably a destination for rich people where they can take their hellicopters and go ski. Im not sure why I was attracted to visiting the country in the first place, I guess it had to do with a silly fixation on clocks, yes, clocks.

Geneve turned out to be a rest stop, we bought some souvenirs so we could brag about visiting switzerland and some chocolates. After taking a little cruise in a litle train/tram, in about 8 hours we were out of there.

Oh and lets not forget they do not accept Euros anywhere, I was left with a bunch of swiss coins, more souvenirs I guess.

Roma

♪ Rome! If you want too! ♪

I think Romes beauty is a little overrated (specifically in comparison to other european cities), but to just stand there, in between the “Coliseo” and “Palantino” is breathtaking, it allows you to take a trip back in time, it’s almost possible to hear the rattling of roman armor and the busy ancient roma life, the cheers from the Colisseum, even the ocasional lion roar. It’s a little haunting just standing there.

Now, Im not saying the city is ugly either, the city is just a little worn out, why wouldn’t it be? It’s a city thousands of years old, it’s pretty amazing. At night, it feels so cozy just walking around the streets, taking a break on some of the many plazas, even if you’re by yourself you can feel the romance in the air. Rome was once capital of the world and you can sense it. with it’s history all around, and let’s not forget the great works of art like the Fontana di Trevi.

Venezia

(in Italy > Veneto)

Worth visiting!

Que bella e!

Of all the places I’ve ever been to, this is probably my favorite, it’s like visiting a silly child fantasy world where the streets are made of water and all the vehicles including the ambulance and taxis are boats. If only there where mermaids in the water.

Even if we take away the canals, Venice is a place where it is always worth it to get lost, with its maze like alleys you either magically end up where you started or somwhere even more amazing, and in the process you get to see the local life and taste a cone or two of delicious gellato. Mmmm….

Don’t forget to visit the other isles.

Amsterdam

Worth visiting!

The Ying of Hollands Yang

Or is it the other way around… anywho, The Netherlands is a beautifull and unique place where the people welcome you with open arms and where they have the best motherf*ing tasting shakes in the universe. In contrast, there’s this other place called Amsterdam that if Las Vegas is called sin city.. there’s not a word that can describe what can happen in Amsterdam, don’t get me wrong, it’s also beautiful, people call it the Northern Venice with its wide network of canals, but in the end, Amsterdam is for letting loose, open your mind, see a live sex show, smoke some weed (try but don’t abuse), or just chill in all the different clubs and bars. I guess the difference from Vegas is that it’s not superficial and there’s no gamblin, so you’ll be enjoying the money you’ll spend.

And considering the fact that I dont drink, nor smoke, I’m guessing it will be a lot more for those people who do.

Paris

AHhh Paris!!

C’est Magnifique! This city has mistycism, romance, history, beautiful sights, art, the works, it’s not for nothing that it’s one of the most visited cities of the world. The eiffel tower is just the icon that represent the city, but once you dwell into the deepest corners of the city, you’ll forget about ol’ Eiffy.

The hundreds of Museums, the cathedrals, the seine, the performers on the metro, Montmartre, the canals, the cemeteries, the parks, even the shopping the centers and the business disctric are marevelous, in Paris, the hobos play accordeons & violins. Im getting very nostalgic here. One day I shall return. Im not yet finished with it.

Tijuana

Worth visiting!

Go here only if you're close by.

I live here, and actually like it. People complain about traffic, corruption, some smells, and such.. but the thing is it’s not so different from any other major city.

If someone from Europe where to come to Mexico I wouldnt advise to come to Tijuana, taking into acount that there are a lot more WONDERFUL places to explore in the rest of the country, some where even I’m dying to visit. But if you’re visiting (or live in) San Diego, you definetly must check it out.

Tijuana is a whirlwind of cultures, people from all of Latinamerica have migrated here in the hopes of entering the US, some stay the rest of their lives here, some with better luck, plus we are constantly influenced by “gringo” culture being able to receive radio stations and TV channels from the US. The city is expanding (physically and culturally) each day like crazy, there are culture movements that only exist here and others are either made here or this is where they evolved. You can probably spot various folkloric elements of other states from Mexico.
So in conclusion, Tijuana is a place for people more interested in a cultural exchange and intereseted in somewhat amusing anthropologicall ambients. If you think you are like this, don’t go where the brochures tell you to go (like Revolution Ave. and the Wax Museum.. snore), just hop on a local bus and see where it takes you, for 50Cents you will be enjoying the whole scenario and ocasionally free music (unless you want to give the bus performers a couple of dimes).

Like a friend from the US pointed out, it’s not that much of a dirty place, it’s mostly worn out. It can even be somewhat considered like a small New York City, mainly for its diverse culture that sprouted because of migration. This is where it all starts, but it’s neither a place that resembles the rest of Mexico nor a place feeding on everything US.
