I grew up in Kansas, but my mom moved back to WV when I skipped the country. I took my boyfriend to the States (his first time) a few years ago, and I warned him before that there would be toothless people wearing overalls with nothing underneath (coveralls that don’t quite cover all, if you will), and he thought I was joking. That first night when we pulled into the Kroger’s parking lot, he saw the truth himself.
Also, the people in northern WV/ southeast Ohio all speak the same kind of hillbilly English. They don’t seem to want to use the third form of the verb (I have went un picked up my cousin from the Giant Eagle.). If they all speak that way, I suppose it can’t really be all that wrong.
