was only a couple of weeks ago. If you want to soak in the hot water you need to be there a couple of hours before low tide. We were late which turned out to be a bonus as everyone else had left and we had the place to ourselves, the water was burning hot and wonderful.
Handy tip: dont wear your best clothes..the smell of sulphur does not always come out.
Take a shovel and a bucket.

Coromandel is only a couple of hours drive from Auckland and the coastline is gorgeous to drive around. Beautiful water, lovely old Pohutakawa trees and there are lots of DOC camping grounds that are cheap to stay at. I can especially recommend driving to the very top and staying at Port Jackson…

its sort of obligatory to go to the top of the island, just to say you have but it is worth it. I’ve only been there in hellish weather so didn’t get the best experience. The sand dunes are incredible. I hate the windy roads though always get carsick…

to try kayaking in the freezing cold waters….

I like the idea of Tasmania as its close to home but far enough way to get a different experience. NZ is great but lacks the wildlife of Aussie. A friend recently went there and it looked beautiful. Then there is its history as well and the fact that its not filthy with people…

being at an age where I wasn’t fascinated by all things egyptian to the point where I now have a large tattoo of King Tut. As a kid being an archaeologist was high on the list of what I wanted to be when I grew up. Now I am grown up its just a matter of getting there. In recent times it hasn’t seemed like the safest place to go but these days you could say that of most places in the world.
