Wien, Austria

Todd Gehman asks,

“What are the best music history attractions in Vienna?”

Todd Gehman answers,

Thanks! I was actually thinking more along the lines of music history stuff, museums or old haunts of composers, that sort of thing. I just altered the question to clarify it a bit, but thanks again for the good live music tips.

Los Angeles, Los Angeles County

mackro asks,

“Should Los Angeles be part of Los Angeles county on 43 places, in order to better serve as a tourist page for "Greater L.A."?”

Todd Gehman answers,

We are working on building more features based around metro areas rather than the individual cities that comprise them, but those features are still in the early stages. The metro areas will probably be represented behind the scenes by groups of cities around a central hub rather than a shared parent place like a “Greater Metro Area”.

Mount Saint Helens, Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument

Laurel Fan asks,

“Last time I was there most of the mountain was closed because of volcanic activity. They've reopened it to climbing, anyone want to go with me?”

Todd Gehman answers,

Would it require serious mountaineering skills? Because my mountaineering skills are pretty funny.

Los Angeles, Los Angeles County

mackro asks,

“How did the lexicon of "The [freeway number]" start here?”

Todd Gehman answers,

I’ve heard that the East and West route numbing schemes correlate to the landmass of the lower 48 states. So, 5% of the land is west of I-5, while 95% of the land is west of I-95. 10% of the land is south of I-10, 90% south of I-90. It seems logically consistent, but I’ve never verified it and have no idea what the rationale would be.

The Robot Co-op Office, Capitol Hill

Des asks,

“Will anyone be in the office the week of July 4 or will you all be closed up?”

Todd Gehman answers,

We will be open for business! And for leisure, if you want to stop by. Robots enjoy meeting the humans they serve.

Mexico City, Distrito Federal

Todd Gehman asks,

“Guidebooks suggest to stow away valuables and hide expensive camera equipment while in the city. But openly using my camera is one goal of the trip. Is it really so dangerous in the daytime?”

Todd Gehman answers,

Ah, thanks. I’m long back from the trip but completely loved Mexico City. I think it’s the kind of place that is has such vibrant street life that Americans don’t really know how to respond. If they’re anxious they’ll respond with anxiety, if they enjoy culture shock they’ll be totally energized by the place. I was energized – can’t wait to go back!
