I should have been there with someone else

My family was bitter and irritable and refused to embrace the pace of things here. I enjoyed being with my brother, mostly. Next time I’ll have to go with someone more fun.

It's lovely, even if you go with the wrong person

I didn’t see as much as I would have liked, but more than I might have if I’d been on my own. Having a travel partner is tricky. I am no good at travelling alone, and yet it’s hard to find a partner whose nature is complementary to your own.

I hope I’ll go back again, and learn more about what there is to love in Paris. The Marrais is a lovely area. It’s hard to remember, though, why it’s so lovely. I just remember having enjoyed being outside every day, walking around.

I don’t know what is wrong with me this year, but my travels have been less deeply satisfying and soul-nourishing than in the past.

Still, Paris was better this year than it was the previous time I went. Maybe it’s different every time.
