The Museo Capitoline is here, not to mention a really nice view from the piazza. There’s also a really nice church (also elevated) between the piazza and the Vittorio Emmanuelle Monument with an even better view of the city. Wicked stairs though.

Train station that’s a pain in the butt to get to and from. For some trains this is their only stop in Rome though, so you might not be able to get around it.

Well, the public transportation system is nice, and the city looks pretty lit up at night. That’s about all I saw of Munich.

Well, technically I was in Germany, but I never actually left the public transportation system…went from Munich Airport to the train station in Munich and from there got on a train to Austria. Plus it was at night. Still counts as having been to Germany though, right?

When I went with a friend, it started raining about an hour into our visit to Pompeii and never stopped, it only got harder as the day went on. We eventually just got too wet and miserable to stay any longer. I think we missed a whole lot of the ruins, but at the time we really didn’t care. Either go when the weather’s warm and sunny, or wear a raincoat, good boots, and take a sturdy umbrella.

I suppose Naples would have been a perfectly fine place, had the weather not been absolutely horrible (heavy rain and high winds), had my companion and I not been lost the whole time, had nearly every Napolitano and Napolitana we asked for directions not steered us in the wrong direction, had we been able to find a decent map…yeah. We didn’t have a good experience with Naples, but try going when the weather doesn’t suck, and you might enjoy it.

My friend Kate, who’s in Salzburg for the semester, and I are planning a trip through Spain for our spring break (our schools’ breaks happen to coincide!) I’m really excited!

I was in Firenze for the weekend. My roommate and I took the train from Rome to Florence. Our train stopped in just about every little town along the way, so over the course of the three hour train ride we went through towns with names like Orvieto, Allerona, Fabro, Chiusi, Castiglion del Lago, Terontola, Camucia, and Castiglion. We got some absolutely gorgeous views of the countryside, the hilltop towns, random ruins, and the distant mountains. I would like to go back and explore the Tuscan countryside at some point. What a beautiful place.
Also has awesome food, like everywhere in Italy.

My roommate and I went over today. We saw it but we didn’t go inside (it costs 8 euro to go inside and we were both broke), and the weather was pretty damn crappy today, but that was ok. We’re going to go back when it’s nicer outside and when we have cash.
