Athens, Athens Prefecture

I wanted to like Athens..

While Athens is a city filled with amazing architecture, I really did not feel comfortable here. Walking around you get hassled; in shops, you get hassled; you get hassled into restaurants, while having something to eat you get hassled… Noticing a pattern here? Most people I met had bad experiences with rip off taxi drivers – if you are going to Athens, make sure you know how to get around by metro.

On a postive point, the hostel I stayed in, The Backpackers Hostel, was fantastic. Great value, clean, had great staff and met fantasic people there.

I spent a couple of days in Athens before and after I went to the islands of Santorini and Naxos. The next time I go to Greece, I will bypass Athens completely. Greece is definitely worth it – for the islands at least.

Antarctica

Untitled

As a child I used to have the National Geographic Map of Antartica on my bedroom wall. Im still fascinated by this amazing continent. Of course spending hours watching David Attenbrough’s “life in the freezer” series just added to this :)
