this is one funky place. if you go during the festivals of the summer or oktoberfest, it’s just spectacular. if not, be a little bit on guard. this place has some serious bad guys, drugs, etc. but if you treat it like a city and not a safe little village, you’ll be cool….

Did you see the Tour de France go through?

beautiful little town. we spent just one night there. hiked up to the amazing cathedral. who would have thought that such a small town played such a big part in the Crusades?

we went in the early part of spring and that brought in an eclectic blend of pilgrims from throughout the world. Beautiful train ride, but the train schedules are mere suggestions.

we stopped there on the way to the village with the most amazing history in Europe—Le Chambon sur Lignon, where a pacifist pastor and his church sheltered hundreds of Jewish children from the Nazis during WWII.

lots of fun eats and sights around there. don’t get too far off the beaten path as it’s not the safest part of town.

An awesome place to meet people from everywhere! The hills on the north side are most amazing. Don’t expect it to be warm and don’t bank on a clear view of the city. Incredible nonetheless.
