A tip I have about this place

It’s nice to just drive up the coast and take in the ocean. Very relaxing.

Tecate

Worth visiting!

Back in the day

My grandparents had a house in Tecate when I was younger. The house was across the street from a park but my mom wouldn’t let me or my brother go to it by ourselves (probably because I was about 6 and he was about 8). She also said it was a sketchy sort of place, not very safe. I suppose that was true, because my grandparents ended up having to sell their house because they were being blackmailed and threatened into doing so. Even so, it was fun when I was little. I remember eating watermelon flavored ice cream with seeds in it (sugar seeds, I think…) and playing in an inflatable pool in the front yard. The house also had pretty neat architecture, and a brick grill in the backyard. It actually was a cool little place. Not so much touristy, but very laid back. I want to go back someday.

New York City

Not worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I went to NYC for my spring break in March. In theory, it should’ve been a really cool trip, I was really looking forward to it. Until I realized that the friends I was going with might just bring it down. And they did.
We were going to take a red eye flight, but the flight was too full so we gave up our seats to take a flight in the morning. That was cool, we got $400 travel vouchers so now I can do something worthwhile for my next trip. By the time we got to New York, it was evening so we lost a whole day of our 4 day trip. We spent two hours trying to pick somewhere to eat dinner because one of my friends was being way too picky and not even paying attention to what we were doing.
Which is basically how the whole trip went. We had no plans of what to do, just loose ideas, and didn’t do anything. We walked by Central Park, walked by some museums, walked by the Hudson River, drove past the Trump Towers and Rockefeller Center, walked by every single building we possibly could, walked down Broadway, walked through Harlem. The only things we actually saw were a Broadway play, Times Square about 4 times, and the WTC memorial. Everything else was walking by things that would have been cool to stop at if my friends had an interest in looking at things.
We also ended up staying with a friend at Yale to save money for two nights, and ended up losing like 4 hours a days because of the traveling.
I was really disappointed with my trip, and really upset that no one would be persuaded to actually DO something. I’d like to go back someday and see more things, but I think next time I’ll go with different people.

Torrance

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Home

Torrance is my hometown (I’m in San Diego for school right now though). I don’t understand why everything thinks it’s not worth it. I think it depends more on the area of Torrance you go to. If you’re inland, yeah that’s the crappy part. But the areas bordering Redondo and PV are nice. I live about a 10 minute drive from the beach in a nice house in a nice neighborhood and I love it. Sure, a lot of things are being remodeled to be modernized, but I think that’s inevitable in any growing city. It’s actually kinda fun coming back every few months and seeing what has changed.

Sometimes Torrance can get boring because…if you’ve lived there your whole life, there isn’t much to do anymore. Once you’re of driving age though, you have so much at your fingers. LA is close by and there’s tons of stuff to do there. I think it’s an ideal place to live: close to the beach, far enough from a freeway that there’s not a lot of traffic but close enough that you can get away anytime, not a lot of crime, good places to hang out/eat/shop/play, safe, clean, etcccc. I wouldn’t mind living somewhere like that when I’m older.
