Long Beach, Tofino

Navy retirement city

I lived here in the mid 1970’s at which time there were so many retired Navy people living there (mostly senior citizens) that one of the main forms of transportation was golf carts! I have been back a few times and still find a little place off Ximeno Ave called Egg Heaven to be a great place to eat breakfast. Loaded hash browns are my favorite.

Ibiza, Illes Balears

Hippie Colony and Paella

I went to Ibiza in 1978 at which time there existed a large American hippie colony on the island. The thatched huts on the beach making paella on open fires and the beautiful coves were memorable. We stayed in a “hotel” on the beach for $3 a night which included breakfast! I’ve often dreamed of going back.
