Paris, Ile de France
amazing
I didn’t think it was possible that Paris could live up to its own hype. But it was better.

over 6 years agoOkay- I love this town. It’s my heart’s hometown- but I didnt grow up there and I dont live there anymore.
You could:
Do museums for days.
Shop downtown at swanky flagships.
Eat the best in most cuisines.
Eat the best in snackfoods at the local hotdog/taco/gyro restaurant.
Shop edgy boutiques from the edge of downtown and west for beautiful an unique things.
Marvel at Chicago’s total command over thenatural environment- San Francisco’s opposite- where nature bends to meet the needs of the city.
Tall buildings. Mansions. Beaches. Blue skies.
over 6 years agoThis is a great place to visit. The weather is mild, by my midwestern standards anyway. It’s beautiful. The city is nestled into the hills that rise from the ocean and the bay and natural beauty is everywhere you look. There are lots of parks and lots of views. Anyone can get out on the water by taking a ferry to Oakland (maybe after picking out a sanck at the Ferry Building Market).
But mostly, I love to have my feet on the sidewalk on vacation. SF has great restaurants, international culture, amazing museums, and fabulous shops. The public transportation is abundant and easy to figure out.
One of my favorite things about the city is its character. It seems to have more independent shops, hotels and restaurants than chains and I love that. I alolove how small it is- and that will sound funny- but you can go all over so easily.
Go. And take your camera.
