Elitch Gardens

Not worth visiting!

The commercialism is rampant

The old Elitch’s WAS better. Trees, picnic tables, not the uncomfortable money pit it is now. NO outside food or drinks, and $3 for a bottle of water? Please. Go find a county fair for more fun at half the price.

Reddy Killowatt

Back in my youth, I spent a year in Greeley. The college kids were great. In front of the electric company building in old downtown, a mosaic in stone of Reddy Killowatt, not to be confused with the zip code stick figure, in the sidewalk, was a popular lay-down-on-the-sidewalk-for-a-photo-op place. My kid now attends UNC there. I really should visit and see if Reddy is still waiting.

Breckenridge

Not Just for Skiers

Breckenridge, only 2 hours from Denver, has some great small venues to host your favorite bands. Also, it’s a Christmas village year round. Beautiful little town. I got on the bus here.

New Mexico

Worth visiting!

Time Travel

New mexico is a place to go in the states that feels like it’s elsewhere. Everything is true, it’s enchanting. It even smells special, of roasting chiles and pinon nuts. Modern amenities meets historic southwestern feel.

Ghosts in the Canyon

There’s a campground on the canyon floor where the Colorado & the Arizona rivers converge. Cliff faces taller than skyscrapers shelter the riverbeds. In the morning, it takes the sun an extra hour to reach the canyon floor. Rafters, kayakers and tubers float by below. Many glyphs left hundreds of years ago by the native Americans can be found within an easy walk. I ruined a good pair of leather sandals in the river.
The road down is only a mile long or so, but it’s steepness and curves require an hour to conquer.

Florissant Fossil Beds

Worth visiting!

Stone Trees

Feel small and awed by giant rock trees in the middle of nowhere. There used to be an old settler’s house nearby…is it still there?

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre

God's Home Theater

Spectacular venue for hippie shows, all that nature and all. Wonderful acoustics, great natural high from climbing up all the way.

Garden Of The Gods

Worth visiting!

God knows her xerascaping

There’s a road across one of the hills here that’s only a mile long…and only a car wide, with drops straight down on both sides. Scary, but a great photo op.

Shambhala

Join me there

Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala

Ah, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala

I can tell my sister by the flowers in her eyes
On the road to Shambala
I can tell my brother by the flowers in his eyes
On the road to Shambala

How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala

Longmont

Untitled

I grew up here. 15 minutes to Boulder and the mountains, half an hour from Denver. Not too exciting to vacation, but a nice place to live. I miss Woolworths. :O(
