I had a tour guide when I went here which was really helpful. Doesn’t have the nonstop energy of say a London, but rather a very laid back, sophisticated feel. Very cultural astute city. Food and museums in particular were excellent. I feel like living in the city for a short while is the best way to experience it as it is not a place which really jumps out at you. The only negative comment I have is so many restaurants and stores were closed on Sunday and even Monday, even in the bustling, touristy areas.

The energy in this city was nonstop. The diversity was good and the subway/transit system was excellent. The quintessential city for young people combining style and chic, corporate $, culture, and nightlife. You’d have to live here to experience these things for real I’d imagine which is problematic as the cost of living is ridiculously exorbitant, and the food is bad. Other European cities have more history and landmarks, but if your’e looking for fun, this is a must visit.

Went here for work. I’d teeter on whether or not to reccomend a visit here if you didn’t have any other reason to be here. Downtown was seedy, but not so rundown to have no value. Aquarium was cool. Centennial Park downright sucked. Didn’t take public transit, but it seemed like a driving must city. The areas on the downtown outskirts were pretty cool, especially Little Five Points. Lots of cool bars and restaurants. Seemed like there were a lot of places to get all dressed up and go on a Saturday night, but not equivalent in terms of cultural or ethnic offerings. All in all, it reminded me of a little Los Angeles. Sans the surf and sand of course…

The MLK historic site closed way too early for me to visit. Next time, I guess…

are the words that come to mind. Made a true visit for the first time this past summer. A city with a lots of energy and traditional urban character. Many different districts with unique character to cater to various folks and a fairly diverse demographic. Unlike many other cities, the downtown is not a wasteland and the public transportation is servicable. One of the few places with multiple venues for nightly authentic blues.

The 2nd city moniker seemed appropriate though. Very reminiscent of NYC character and infrastructure wise, but with a little bit less…

in a motel in New Haven for two nights. When I got there, it was obvious that there were several families living in the motel. It was a class-A dump. The downtown was a dump. The suburbs were bland. Although Montreal was cool each time I’ve been, I liked Toronto a little better in terms of the diversity and layout of the city. Reminded me of a mix of Seattle and New York. Funky and urban. Nothing too impressive as far as architecture or material for photographers, but definitely enough to see for visitors. Also seemed like it could be a fun place to live.

Bummer: The liquor laws are nazi-like in the city.

and saw the Canadian and American side. Canadian side won by a landslide. The view and surrounding areas on the Canadian side are much better. The view of the American side was OK but there the surrounding town is beyond depressing. The casino there is nicer than I expected…

on the way back from Toronto. 8 PM on Sunday and EVERYTHING was closed for dinner on what was supposed to be the hotspot in town (Chippewa). The place was dead empty and the surrounding areas looked very run down. We finally had dinner in a diner in suburban Buffalo. Bland strip mallish. Might be something of value here, but I did not witness…

Went here for a one day trip and rediscovered most of the city sites and vibrant areas in that time. Pretty cool city if a bit on the small side. Great thing about this place is the prices: $1 beers during happy hour! Cool place to visit if within driving distance or passing through. Not worth seeing on its own though if you’re flying out from say California…

...was the last time. Can’t remember all of what I did in the four or so days there, but took in some temples and architecture that was cool. Food was great. Nightlife was decent, and english was common enough for me to get by. Would maybe go again.
