Sahara Hotel And Casino

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Sahara...great last stop on the monorail

We are travelling back to Vegas in March and staying at the Sahara again. Located on the last stop on the monorail it allows you the freedom of easy access to the famous larger casinos (MGM Grand, etc) as well as the opportunity to take a quick bus trip to the Freemont area.
The best part is that the rates are very reasonable and the rooms are kept clean. Book online via their website to check for the best rates. You will find they are cheaper than expedia, etc.
Have Fun

Domaine De Chaberton Winery

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Wine and food!

We went to the winery as part of a Customer Appreciation Night. I have always enjoyed their award winning wine (whites grown there and reds up in the Okanagan). I would definitely recommend their Syrah and Bachus(1). Their wine store also has other wine related items for sale and is opened for tastings as well. Their french bistro has remarkable food. Customer Service is #1. Enjoy!

Cultus Lake

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Camping and Beaches

A great spot to go camping (~1hr and a half east of Vancouver, BC). We tented at the Provincial campground which is located next to the lake (our site was very close to the boat launch) The tent site was fantastic= close to washrooms, fresh water, hiking trails, and a children’s playground. We brought our dog which limited us to certain areas (the public beach did not allow dogs but found some secluded small beach areas where we could have our dog). Great lake surrounded by mountains. Great for boating and other watersports (you can rent different water crafts). There is a fantastic waterslide area, kids park and a putting course for all. We had some fantastic sushi for lunch and then traditional camping fare for dinner.

Tigh-na-mara Spa Resort

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Beaches, Not so great food!

My wife and I went to the Tigh-na-mara Spa Resort with our Airmiles (1800 =airmiles.ca) which allowed us to stay at an oceanside suite = (kitchen, fireplace,tv, room) The room was fairly rustic with a not so clean look. Shower/Tub was not up to date with the times. It was a beautiful view from the room (see picture). It also included a Spa visit to their Grotto Spa…very spectacular..but pricey normally. We also received a brunch ticket. I enjoyed the buffet style brunch but my wife was not pleased with her breakfast or dinner the night before.
The beach outside the resort was amazing. It is a east facing huge beach that you can walk for miles. The water was very warm (August visit) and there were clams and seashells everywhere. Great for beach combing. The normal cost for an oceanside room is ~$230/night. I would recommend staying in one of the spa rooms (with a private jacuzzi tub). They are not located with a beach view, but they are located to the amazing grotto spa and the walk to the beach is only ~3 minutes. Get the brunch buffet, but avoid the rest of the menu…unless you want a few drinks. Pick us some food and drink elsewhere and have dinner and drinks on the beach (fires are permitted in certain areas!) Very romantic

Haida Gwaii

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Very relaxing place to visit. We received a flight to anywhere in Western Canada as a gift and we choose Haida Gwaii (specifically Sandspit and Queen Charlotte City). We stayed in Sandspit at a fishing lodge (2 star) but adequate for our sightseeing needs. We did a lot of sightseeing around Sandspit and Queen Charlotte City. Very friendly people. I would definitely recommend the place to all Ocean fishermen and women out there and any mushroom pickers as well.

Woody's On Brunette Pub And Liquor Store

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Party Spot and Liquor store!

A great time at this Coquitlam party spot. Not only did we have a great time listening to the live band “Hey Stewie”, but we enjoyed the party atmosphere, great service, super selection of great food, fun dancing, and fantastic DJ who kept the party going during set breaks and after! Their liquor store was open till 11, which allowed us to pick up some wine (fantastic selection) and spirits for after the party.

A definite must see and experience. It is located near the corner of Lougheed Highway and Brunette Ave. There is another pub close by which plays mostly country and more older crowd. We made the mistake of visiting there first and left just as quickly.

P.S. If you go to Woody’s on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night be sure to get there early. There is often a line up at the door.
