If you’re up on Fwy 80, and pass through North Highlands, take the Madison Avenue exit, then turn on Date Avenue. There you’ll find the best little Italian sub shop, Tony Baloney’s. Order the peppersteak sandwich and you won’t be sorry.

However, do allow yourself enough time. You can do the recon tour like I did in a day, but you have to really spend time here to comprehend the scope of this park’s beauty.
Cannot wait to go back!
Be sure to grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa at the Presidio gift shop and cafe. It’s a great warm-up for a walk out on the beach!
