Cherokee

Worth visiting!

In College...

I visited Cherokee, NC and went to the high school to talk with high schoolers there. It was an awesome experience. These students were super nice kids and I loved being there. One thing I loved was seeing Mingo Falls in the winter! It was completely frozen because it was like 15 degrees the night before. I have NEVER been in weather like this ever! We had to hike up these stairs that were super high and LONG! IT was worth it because when we got up there we saw the ice on the water and I loved it.

Great experience…

Georgia

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Atlanta, GA

I have been to at least 4 or 5 different places in this state. I must admit that I do like it. There is so much to do here. My sis lives here and I have fun doing things everytime I go. One time, she and her husband took me to the Coca-Cola museum! HOW COOL IS THIS MUSEUM! You actually walk through all the boring details of how Coke got started and stuff, but then you get to sample all these different drink that you don’t see in your local grocery store or Wal-Mart! They are cokes from different countries. There are different flavors. As you can see, I really do like GA. It’s like you are in the South, but it is very much a modern city.

Michigan

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Detroit, Michigan

I didn’t really like it here. Of all the places I’ve gone, I don’t think this is in my top 10 list of places to go back to. This place is truly the city. I was very afraid when I was there. My brother-in-law grew up there so we went to visit his mom. I must say that they do have good food! If you do go, don’t leave without getting you a big juicy Coney Island cheese burger! Ummmmmmmmmmmm…it was so good! I also ate at a restaurant called Starters—Huge portions and very delicious!

Chicago...

I was here for a longggggggg time! Yes, in the infamous, grand O’Hare Airport! I really wished that we weren’t sitting in those dog-on seats, but out exploring!

The first time I went to this place

The first time I went to this place was just another stop on my “first airplane ride” experience. It was super scary because I ended up riding a 19 seater out of Denver. The plane shook so much because of the moutanious area. I loved it though. It was gorgeous. I truly wish that I could have explored the area more closely. :-)

Florida

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

The last time I went to Florida, I had a blast! It was Spring Break ‘05. My sister and 3-year-old nephew went with me. We had so much fun at the beach. It was an amazing experience. First, we went to Destin, FL. We had been there before and we went to the familiar beach we always go to. Then we decided to do something different and drive to Panama Beach. It was great. We didn’t realize that there was an actual place called Panama Beach. We wanted to go to THE Panama Beach. We finally got there and stayed to almost night fall. We have some awesome pictures to show for them, but unfortunately I won’t upload them. Florida is definitely worth doing!

Why I want to go to this place

I’m an English teacher. Oddly enough, I don’t think this had anything to do with why I wanted to go at first. At first, I really liked the accent. I want to live there long enough so that I can at least have a small change in my accent. I think after I became a teacher, I kind of decided that learning about the places that we read about as I teach 9th grade world literature, would be an added bonus. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to go to a place as badly as I want to go here. I just gotta use my London for Dummies book too!

New Mexico

Worth visiting!

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Okay, I love this place. When I was a freshman in college, I was fortunate enough to get an all-expense paid trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I got to take a flight there all the way from Alabama. It looks so different from Alabama, which is pretty cool. We walked everywhere we went (which was NOT CUTE!) and it was a lot of walking, but I love the culture of the city. Everywhere you went, there is a total emersion into the Native American/Hispanic culture of the place. I remember distinctly passing this restaurant that had a live mariachi band. It was cool to hear the music spilling onto the streets. I got to taste TRUE and VERY AUTHENTIC Mexican food. We had a blast. It is my desire that I go back here for my honeymoon whenever I do get married! :-)

A review of this place: Good 'ole Alabama

I love this state! I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. There are beautiful blue skies, and if you live on the Gulf Coast there are even more. There’s also water as far as the eye can see the Gulf of Mexico. There are also a lot of trees which I didn’t see in the Southwest part of the United States. There is a lot of road as well. As far as I’m concerned, Alabama is home to me and it’s worth checking out. Here is a picture of what I see quite often down here in the South. As you can see, it’s just beautiful!
