Six Flags Magic Mountain

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place

Yuck yuck yuck. While visiting the Los Angeles area my family decided more or less on a whim to check out this Six Flags theme park on a day we had nothing planned. Surely it would be just as fun as the other five or six we’ve been to? Well, at least, it might have been. All I remember about that day is how terribly hot and humid it was. And I didn’t realize it at the time, but Magic Mountain is actually located on an incline. I know it sounds miniscule but really, due to the different pressure of the atmosphere, I had a really hard time breathing. It was really overall unpleasant.

As far as the rides go, we rode a couple. The lines weren’t too bad except for the really popular ones. Which is to be expected. But what REALLY got me was the local people there. I couldn’t believe all the foul language comming out of the tiniest person. It was so bad I left a couple of lines because I couldn’t stand to hear the unnecessary jabber anymore.

At the end of the day we really cut it short. No one was having really any fun, but I blame that in large part to the heat. I don’t think I’ll ever be returning to this Six Flags.

Rodeo Drive

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place

Psh. It’s good for a couple of pictures, and maybe the chance glimpse of a celebrity. Otherwise all you’ve got is a row of high-end stores and the residential area. Whoop-dee-do.

San Francisco

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Oh, gosh. What to say about San Francisco? It really is a great city. Full of hustle and bustle, there’s a million different tiny shops to visit and things to do. This is a place I would really love to live during my early adult years. The only downside would be the constant tourists, a bit of traffic, and the chill in the air. Otherwise, an amazing city.

Fisherman's Wharf

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Like everyone else has said, the Fisherman’s Wharf really is a tourist trap. But if you really want to get the feel of the Bay Area, it’s definately not a place to avoid. There are tons of food stands, people, and fun things to do, all for a price, mind you. It’s fun for the atmosphere. Just make sure you don’t leave without having some clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl. Seriously, the best.

Alcatraz

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

The tour is self guided (audio), meaning you can take as long as you please taking photographs and just absorbing everything. This really translates to wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking around the place three times over up and down and you don’t want to go home with blisters.

Above all, bring a jacket. Alcatraz is located something like a mile out into the middle of the bay where wind really starts to pick up over the ocean. Even in the middle of the summer when I went, no matter how warm you may feel, it will be icy on that island.

Pirate Soul & Shipwreck Museum

A review of this place

It’s a pretty interesting museum, and definately original. Includes an exhibit of one of two authentic pirate chests left in the world! A neat place for the kids (inner or otherwise) and very informative. While museums about pirates aren’t for everyone, I enjoyed myself.
