Brady Lake Reservoir, Brady

Brady Lake

For ya’ll city slickers, the official name is “Brady Reservoir”; but us folks from the heart of Texas just call it “Brady Lake”. I remember as a child visiting the site where Brady (Lake) Reservoir was being excavated. The lake draws fishermen and boaters. There are cabanas and a lake store. The pavillion hosts dances, family reunions, and parties. There is a swimming area and numerous camping and picnicing sites, some with barbecue pits. The marina has a boat dock and indoor fishing.

Home of the World Championship Barbecue Goat Cookoff on Labor Day Weekend at Richard’s Park, Brady is host of thousands this weekend each year. Deer hunting is plentiful; but reserve your lease well in advance. It’s just a small town with a lot of heart.
