I’ve lived near Belfast for over 3 years now, and I love that city. As a foreigner myself (I’m originally from Holland) I always had visions of the war-like images you saw on TV whenever I heard about Belfast. Bombs exploding, the army running around – not generally a nice place to go! But that’s all mostly a part of the past now. Belfast is a very lively city, a beautful city. You can tell it has a history, but that adds to the atmosphere, it gives it intrigue. Belfast is filled with friendly people, good restaurants, good shops, good museums, etc. And the rugged nature of Ireland is only a short drive away – up on the mountain slopes surrounding Belfast, or a bit further south in the Mountains Of Mourne, or further north on the Antrim Coast. There is so much to see and do in Belfast, I could go on all day! ;)
