I was working as a nanny for a wealthy British couple. We flew first class out and Concorde back and stayed in the Pierre Hotel on Fifth Avenue, with a suite overlooking Central Park. Amazing.

The children were lovely – really well brought up – and we had fun at the Natural History Museum and at FAO Schwarz, the toystore.

I really want to walk around the places where Cicero orated, Caesar strutted, Augustus schemed and Nero fiddled.

Dive with Nesima Dive Centre in Dahab, which is less of a horrid package-tourist destination than Sharm.

You can dive straight from the beach in many places. :o)
