Panama Canal, Panama

Untitled

Amazing experience. I recommend reading about the construction before you go…then you can marvel. The shopping in Panama is incredible because it is a bottle neck of world commerce, so you can get items from all over the world there. The local crafts are awesome also.

Hovenweep National Monument, Utah

I have never seen stars as beautiful as they were the night we camped at Hovenweep. We hiked around the entire canyon in the early morning, it was so wonderful.

Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

Summer Solstice

My husband and I were on a road trip of the Four Corners area and we were supposed to meet up with our archaeoastronomy professor from college at Petrogylph in Albuquerque on the summer solstice to see his research there with the light interactions. We called him from Flagstaff the day before and he suggested that we stop off for the sunrise at Petrified Forest and see a light interaction there….so we did. We wanted to see Petrified Forst anyway and we weren’t on any schedule to speak of. It was really awesome and it’s a good thing that we saw that one because when we got to Albuquerque for sunset we had plenty of time to help Dr. Davis get all of his camera equipment set up to do time lapse photography of all the various interactions there, but clouds rolled in just at sunset and prevented us from actually seeing any of the ones there. Oh and the painted desert is beautiful!
