San Francisco, San Francisco Peninsula

TOTALLY worth visiting.

there’s so much to say about san francisco that i can’t possibly cover it here, but after spending a week there i love it and plan to return as often as possible. i stayed at the red victorian bed and breakfast on haight street, and the experience was wonderful, especially the sunday morning conversation over breakfast hosted by the owner, sami sunchild. if you love seattle, vancouver, or portland, you’ll love san francisco, too!

Montreal, Québec Province

not my favorite city, but definitely worth a visit

montreal is a strange place. downtown is great, so if you’re a city person you’ll probably love it there. some parts of the rest of the city are beautiful, and others aren’t. you really don’t have to speak french to visit montreal – in most places, if you even stumble slightly while speaking french, the person you’re talking to will switch to flawless english. i’m not particularly secure about my french-speaking skills, so i ended up not practicing in montreal because i knew that pretty much everyone there could speak english better than i could speak french! but that’s just me.

if you go with children, i recommend the biodome, a large indoor zoo with three distinct habitats. for other entertainment, check out the 2880 film festival that usually happens in late may or early june, or the huge comedy festival in the summer.
