I went here on a recent cruise. We stopped at Progreso and went on one of Carnival’s excursions to the Dzibilchaltun Mayan archaeological site. This was amazing! It is the home of the Temple of the Seven Dolls. This is the temple where the sun aligns with the windows during the solstice & equinox. The guide even mentioned that NASA uses this as a tool for measurement. While resting, we sat on the “bleachers” of the field that they played their morbid ball game (tossing balls, or enemy heads, through hoops, in which the winning captain was killed). To cool off everyone went down to the Cenote de X’Lacah a large sinkhole. I believe the sinkhole, and many others in the area were created by the asteroid that affected the extinction of the dinosaurs. Afterwards, we visited the New Mayan World Museum. Seeing wild iguanas was fun too.

This is where we buy our groceries to take to Port Aransas for vacation (it has a big grocery store).

Inbetween DFW and Austin on I-35. They have the best Kolaches around.

I travel through Buda every day on the way to work, but hardly stop there. Occasionaly for gas or to eat. But now they have a new “Cabela’s”!! So I go there much more often ;)

I actually live closer to Uhland than Kyle, but it is too small to have a post office. But it does have the famous “Club 21”. One of the oldest dance halls in Texas.

This is a small (very small) town near San Marcos.

I have to commute through Austin every day to go to work. And all I have to say about it is that it has the worst traffic problem I have ever seen!
