Richmond

Worth visiting!

I used to live here.

Living in Richmond shows you the disgusting and corrupt under-belly of human nature at it’s worst. Visit, but do not live here. Beware of the bums. Lots of con-artists, thieves, bums, and what-not. Do not give money to them. Do not walk around Richmond, alone, at night.

That being said, there are many beautiful and wonderful places in Richmond. This city is full of history and there is always something going on – summer music festivals, food festivals, wine festivals, the lake front is gorgeous, there’s hiking, fishing (St. James is polluted) boulder hopping, boating, you name it – it’s there. Cary Town has many cute shops, Maymont PArk has magnificent gardens, and the entire city is full of beautiful historic architecture.

Texas

Worth visiting!

I spent a large portion of my life driving across Texas.

Texas has much to see, and the abundance of life within cities spawns cool stuff to go and see, but if you have to drive across this state on either the I-40 or the I-10, don’t expect rest areas with bathrooms, vending machines, live grass for your pets or water. :) I like Dallas, there’s some great clubs to visit and awesome restaurants.

Oh yeah, good way to pass time driving across the I-10 – count animal carcasses. you’d be surprised!

Warszawa

Worth visiting!

Spent a small amount of time here.

I was in Warsaw when I was 10 years old. I remember that it’s a busy, bustling city full of people and lots of things going on. I would love to go back. I’ve considered going to school in Warsaw.

Kraków

Worth visiting!

I like the Market Square.

My family lives in Krakow. I did not spend much time here, but I enjoyed the shops and the square. Poland has some of the most beautiful historical structures – still in tact and maintained. People in Krakow are generally nice and there is much to do. I was about 10 years old when I visited Krakow, before communism ended.

Zakopane

Worth visiting!

Beautiful.

I really enjoyed my visit to Zakopane. Of course, I lived there for a summer with my Grandmother. We hiked the Tatra Mountains, I spent alot of time in town and at neighbouring farms. Skiing is the mainstay of this area, and in the winter time, there are far too many winter sports and events to freely list – ice skating (competition and family) cross-country skiing, open skiing, toboggan, luge, sledding, it’s just a really beautiful and fun atmosphere. It’s also a fairly small town, so it’s easy to navigate by one’s self.

Puerto Peñasco

(in Mexico > Sonora)

Worth visiting!

I like the off-season.

I visited here in Winter, around Christmas time. It was far more relaxed, and I enjoyed negating the “drunk underaged drinkers” that habitually frequent Mexico in the Spring and Summer. The beaches were vacant, and though the ocean was too cold to swim in, it was relaxing to relax on the beach and watch the beautiful blue water expand endlessly into the horizon.

There is plenty to do here – hotles have way too much information and packages for tourists, from horse-back riding, to shopping, to night life to restaurants, there is cool stuff to do.

Lots of cheap spirits and the hotels on the beach have a top-notch security team – we stayed in Playa Bonita.

Tempe

Worth visiting!

I live in Tempe, and grew up in Tempe.

Tempe has its ups and down like every urban area. Arizona State university encroaches upon Tempe, Mill Avenue has since become and Outdoor Mall, and many of the places I cherish have dissapeared. They even tore down the legendary Long Wongs. However, from the rubble arises good things. Kiwanis Park has much to offer, and though I haven’t been to Tempe Beach PArk since they added the fake, weather-altering lake, I hear it’s an awesome place to go for boating, skating, bike riding and other “Beach park” type activities. There is a scene here, and if you find the groove, you can fall into one or two of the facets that make Mill Avenue’s hip list.

There’s hiking, shopping, restaurants, note-worthy history (despite the fact that mine, as a bonafide old skule “Mill Rat,” has been stripped), bars, dancing, exercise, a wonderful park system, and excellent bike trail into Scottsdale and other fun stuff to keep one occupied, if they choose to be so occupied.

Chicago

Worth visiting!

I am from Chicago.

I spent part of my life in Chicago and recently visited. My background is quite Polish, and there is quite an abundance of Polish heritage, products and people in Chicago, as well as the lake front, the Navy Pier (amusement park and scenic view), architecture, the Picasso Sculpture downtown, Wrigley Field… ...I didn’t have enough time to visit everything I had wanted to, but I’m sure I’ll be back to visit, soon enough.

Alberta

(in Canada)

Worth visiting!

Edmonton is the friendliest city I've been to.

I absolutely loved Edmonton. People were absolutely friendly, there were plenty of wonderful things to see and places to go (for every budget) and I was highly impressed with their museums. They weren’t staunch or pretentious – they were welcoming and immensely informational.

The club scene was enjoyable and laid back, far more-so than the average dance club in the United States. Restaurants and lodging of all types (hostels, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast, hosts) were highly abundant.
