Paris & Versailles August 2003

My wife and I were in Paris for one week during August of 2003. See our travelogue here: http://www.kirkanddonna.com/rtw/France.htm

I can’t give you much information of anything except Paris, because we were there for such a short time. However Paris is great! They have a great subway system. You are never more than 500 meters from a metro stop when you are in paris city limits.

If you are going just to paris, I recommend you get the Orange Card, (Carte Orange) for the train system when you arrive at the airport. It gets you around for a week including back to the airport. The food is expensive in the restaurants, but you can eat cheaply from the street vendors and walk up food places for crepes and stuff. The museums of course are wonderful, and it was nice to see the stolen egyptian artifacts after we had visited egypt.

Austria August 2003

My wife and I were in Austria for two weeks in August of 2003. See our travelogue here: http://www.kirkanddonna.com/rtw/Austria.htm

The real highlights for me were Vienna and Innsbruck. Both great cities. Be sure to see the museums and a concert or two. The horses in Vienna were great too. The archetecture of the old cathedrals is really nice. We loved the food too. I really liked their train system. It made transport between towns very easy. We didn’t need to rent a car at all and we saw a lot! Check out our travelogue at: http://www.kirkanddonna.com/rtw/Austria.htm

Thailand, Asia

Thailand February to May 2003

My Wife and I were in and out of Thailand from February to May of 2003. See our travelogue here: http://www.kirkanddonna.com/rtw/Thailand1.htm

It is a fabulous country. Definetly the best one to use as a starting point in south east asia. Lots of people know english, they are very friendly to the Western tourist. We had a great time and used it as a stepping off point to go see Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. We mostly spent our time in the north. The south islands are simply western tourist traps. No culture, and not really representative of the country. Chiang mai market was really wonderfull. A great place to eat for under $2.

Everyone gets around on small motorcycles which are cheap to rent and easy to ride.

The archetecture is amazing:
