Monotreme

Not a tourist-friendly city, but still a lovely gem in Sao Paulo state. Beautiful place, beautiful people, great university. I spent a pleasant week here.

This is a tough call. I lived there for 16 years, enjoyed it, but was quite sure I didn’t want to spend as long as I did there. “I don’t mind living here, but I don’t want to die here.” Pretty much a standard Southern metropolis, with decent restaurants, not much to do outdoors, and constant friction between poor and rich (even more than black/white).

It’s changed a lot in the last 30 years, but what place along the Front Range hasn’t? I attended 6th through 12th grade here, before heading up 93 to Boulder for college.

I just moved here in the summer of 2005. It’s a great place, but the locals don’t think much of it. Huge inferiority complex. They should be proud of it. Beautiful city with not a lot of nightlife, but SLC is an easy drive. Mountains and hiking and outdoor activities are first-rate.
