Job-related. Suburban. Some good food, lots of new developments. Reminded me of other trip to AR featuring the high point near Paris, AR. Cool, rainy.

I was born in Eugene! And I’ve been back, once.

Hopefully I’ll make it to the P.NW again one of these years!

I was there two weeks ago for a photoshoot. Interesting place, if not drive—quick 4 1/2 hours from Lincoln if you speed a little and stop very little. The shoot went well. The interior of Wichita seemed rather depressed, lots of shabby buildings, many seeming abandoned. The burbs were as burbs always are. Saw no sights. Shot in a park on the west side of town, kind of a wildernessy area, with dried up buffalo wallows, a creek, ticks, bugs, deer, and brush. Did I mention bugs? Still worth it, and got 4 gigs of pix from shooting with a lovely young woman there. She wore a former Halloween costume of hers, a white fluffy dress that looked almost bridal.

I’ve had maybe a dozen photoshoots in Omaha, including my first official shoot nearly 3 years ago. It’s got a lot to offer.

Denver’s not easy to get around in if you don’t know where you’re going. Try finding stuff at night, too! The signage is awful. My Dad said the same thing and he hasn’t been there for 10 years so it’s a systemic problem.

But you can definitely have fun in Denver!

They’re playing in Denver in early November, and I have three tickets!

Born in Eugene. Left while a baby, or toddler. Drove back there in 1990 after college, spent a week in Portland, drove through Eugene on my way down to the Bay area. Stopped in the little commercial district on a Sunday… all closed.

I suppose I will be back.

Observations: Friendlier than Boston, the city, back in 1998. Rurally, they have some great diners upstate, and passed by a bunch of what were probably cool wineries. But I got caught in a speed trap so I’m not happy with them. Also spent a week or two in Ithaca about 13 years ago. Good times, mostly.

Spent 8 days on a long minivan trip with the now-ex-GF and her two boys, then aged 4 and 9. We climbed a mountain. We rafted down the Rio a few miles. We drove all over. We barely communicated except in “Itellyouwhat” speak, but we did have a few laughs.

I’m glad I went I suppose. The scenery was gorgeous anyway!
