At the information desk in the Library of Congress, they gave my son and I directions to the next building through the tunnel under the street. We had to go there to get a library card – you have to have a card to get into the reading room! It was a very long walk and the process was quick, but detailed – had to have ID, they take your picture. At the entrance to the reading room, they stopped us because my son wasn’t 18, but she let us in for a minute. I slipped into the stacks just to take a book or two off the shelf, glance at the table of contents and slip it back. I could have spent so much time there. Apparently, you need a reason to be at the library – researching family history, for example. Since then, I’ve got some things to look up there for the next time!

Spent strolling around the Ile St.-Louis looking at the shops, snacking and checking out references from a mystery I read on the way: Murder on the Saint Louis

My 15 yr old son and I went to DC and went to the zoo. It was quite a walk from the metro. We saw the giraffes, hippos, etc next to the Pandas. We did see the pandas – I just loved that. We ate there, then left because my son was just not interested, so I must return!

What an amazing place – you go through the bell tower on your way to the top. The view is so wonderful. The cathedral is amazing.

Oregon has everything – mountains, forests, rivers, lakes and oceans. The weather is not cold, a little rainy. I was in Brookings visiting my aunt and ucle – they grow 90% of the Easter lilies there – imagine all those easter lilies growing along the coastline – it’s so beautiful.

the Anne Frank museum, the Picasso museum or the red light district. We only had one day, so I’d like to go back.

Spent one week during the summer of 2004 with my husband. We got a museum pass (a must) which got us in most things as well as to the front of the line at some! We went to the Louvre every day.
