It was one day trip from Newcastle. It was a rainy day. But I felt WOWWW when I saw the old historical center of Edimbourgh (two weeks before the fire). The castle is fascinating. So medieval, so gothic. You have to visit it!

I lived in Athens for the last 32 years. Well, I was born in 1973. Visiting Acropolis needs to be early in the morning, and you have to walk. Every single street in Plaka (the district around Acropolis) leads to the Acropolis. All you need is patience, plenty of water and sun protection creams.
Avoid Plaka’s tavernas, not for their quality, but because they are croudy. Everywhere else in Athens you will find a nice decent restaurant and better service. Always be careful with your purses and personal belonging, although Athens is not a high criminality district, there are everywhere theaves looking for potential victims and tourists are very probable ones. Don’t forget to smile to anyone…and try to say anything, anything in Greek. All doors will be open to you!

It was June 2000. And although I am christian orthodox, I honestly say that I was veeeery lucky because I ve attended the Jobileum anniversary. In the Vatican Square. And I saw the Pope (the last pope not Benedict) speaking to the people. And Rome, was full of christian catholics waiting to watch their spiritual leader. It was very touching moment. And indeed, I was a very lucky person because we don’t celebrate with such magnitude Jobileum anniversary in Greece.
