We visited Kokshetau twice. Once for 3 weeks, and once for six. Each time to adopt a child. While our trips were wonderful, it’s not a place I’d go back to if I didn’t have a reason. Check out http://frankes.blogspot.com/ for details of our trip.
over 5 years agoMy wife and I went to Kazakhstan twice, to adopt our two kids. Almaty is a truly metropolitan city, if somewhat behind western times. Better speak Russian if you want to get around…
over 5 years agoStopped there for a few days with my wife and son, on our way to Kazakhstan to adopt our daughter (he’s from there, too). We loved it. Bicycles EVERYWHERE. Not an obese person in sight. Everything clean and orderly, running smoothly. Public transportation rocks. Small cars. Canals. Oh, man… Couldn’t get into a coffee shop with our son, though, because all the “coffee shops” there are really mostly places to smoke pot. Bet the coffee’s good, too… I’d move there in a second.
