Goodbye Blue Monday

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to locals

Cool vibe, live music almost every night, free wifi. And it’s near my apartment. I shall presumably become a regular.

London Heathrow Airport

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: awful airport

Few airports are particularly fun, but most aren’t this awful. Woe to the connecting passenger: after being shuffled up, down, and around; riding a pointless shuttle bus; and being re-re-scanned by security, you’ll be dumped into a shopping mall and forbidden from proceeding to your gate until a short time before the flight actually departs.

Main Railway Station

keep passing through

For whatever reason, I keep making travel plans that involve changing trains or whatever at Hamburg Hbf without actually spending any time in the city.

18 Arhans

Worth visiting!

News about this place

Alas, it seems that 18 Arhans has closed due to rising rents. The owner’s sons have a new restaurant in Chelsea, but it won’t be the same.

Roomali

A review of this place: Indian wraps!

So apparently someone told the owners of this place about the “wrap craze,” and they decided to open up an Indian version. The results are amazing. Crispy bread (but not too much so as to prevent wrapping) and delicious, spicy fillings. Plenty of vegetarian options, or meat if you prefer. They seem to do a big takeout business, but if you want to eat in their place, they have a nice area with a few tables in it.

Pakistan Tea House

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Cheap and delicious!

For $5 ($6 if you want meat), the Pakistan Tea House will give you a whole lot of food. They’re open late (until 4am, I think). I’ts nothing fancy, but the food is a bit better than many of the other “cab driver” Pakistani restaurants around Manhattan. If you’re in the neighborhood and hungry, it’s worth a stop by.
