Zapallar, Chile

Former Family Vacation spot

Zapallar is a gorgeous, sleepy little beach town, similar to Carmel in California. It’s mostly private homes, which are available to rent, and has mostly managed to escape having huge resorts or apartment buildings built up. There’s only 2 restaurants in the whole town. The views, the beaches, the sea of rocks and boulders and the views of the ocean waves crashing into them… breathtaking. We used to come here every summer when I was a kid, the whole extended family would stay in a rented home for one month each summer. Those are some of my fondest childhood memories.

Belgium, Europe

Untitled

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to go here while living in Europe. I’ve heard many great things about Brussels, Brugges, and other cities… though I must say that my main motivation for wanting to go is to have authentic Belgian waffles. =P I’ve had some here in Switzerland that were about the best thing I’ve ever tasted, and my husband who’s had the Real Deal says the ones I’ve had pale in comparison to the kind you can get in Belgium.

Geneva, Canton of Geneva

Lived here for 1.5 years

My husband and I moved to Geneva as expats in late February, 2007. We lived here for a year and 1/2 (will be moving away next month). Geneva’s been great in that it’s a safe, easy city to get around with great public transit. It’s also perfectly located to get to explore Europe from here (especially with Easy Jet being based here). I’ve spent much time wandering around along Rue de Rive, along the lakeside, in Carouge, Plainpalais, etc. It may not be as exciting a city as, say, Paris, but it’s been a nice place to be.
