I was through town. Then I decided to turn back and take the turn off to I-70. I thought I was through town again. I was driving past a cornfield when Joe Fryday informed me that it was residential and stuck me for $144—how frustrating!

It is a disgusing spectacle to watch the sameness of chain restaurants consume local culture, especially to consume somewhere so historically vibrant as Memphis, TN.

I’ve been to about 1/3 of the states of Mexico, but none of the traditional tourist places: not Acapulco, not Cabo, not Puerto Vallerta, not Cozumel, not Vera Cruz, not Guatelajara, not Monterey, not Cancun. I think it is time to expand my horizons a bit and include something other than the industrialized core.

We had a delightful morning visit to Lavender Valley before we headed back to PDX at the end of our vacation to Washington and Oregon.
