...were unfortunate. the only thing i want to go back for, is the smithsonian.

soo many buildings, sooo full of stuff…. impossible to get through without dedicating weeks! atleast, it is if you have varied interests. if all you want to do it visit one or two of the museums, like the fine arts, or natural history, you’ll be alright…

i love this place. specifically, i love peting the sharks and rays. i also get weepy every time i pass the turtles, most of recued creatures who are mangled in some way. this place is worth visiting, worth supporting. a very educatoinal facility.

on the down side, though: the raptor exhibit makes me sad. :(

never the less, go there!

i visited LA during jazz fest, and a spent few days traveling back and forth between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

i wont pretend i did a thurough job of getting to know either city, but i did have a lot of fun while running about the LSU campus, and the french quarter, and eating in little hole in the wall spots in both towns.

and i came thiiiiiis close to eating crayfish… in sushi form!

there is a little layer of sadness on the state, still, and New Orleans especially, post katrina. but the culture is resitliant and still very determined to survive and to celebrate every opportunity. i would love to go back, a dozen times over.
