Traveled to Ho Chi Minh City in 2006. It was my first time to travel abroad alone so it was scary and at that time felt like a very brave thing for me to do. After I got past the anxiety of being alone in a different country, I found myself enjoying the place and the people. The traffic was crazy so crossing the street was a challenge. It was fun though, and very cathartic (I was going through a rough patch in my life at that time). The xeom driver was nice and so was the lady who runs the inn where I stayed. I would love to go back to Ho Chi Minh, and hopefully explore more of Vietnam.

Been to Coron with my best friend this summer. It was wonderful! The place, especially the beaches, are nice. Clear water, fine, white sand. It is primarily a diving destination, but though I am not a diver, I fell in love with the place just the same. Check out the Twin Lakes and make sure you visit Banol Beach. And when you get to Coron, dine at Bruno’s (a bistro owned by a Frenchman)—heavenly food that doesn’t hurt the pocket. :)

I am actually leaving for Malawi come September 1 and will stay there for two years to work as a volunteer. While there, I will stay at Chitipa, a remote town in the northern region, close to the border of Tanzania and Zambia. The entries I’ve read so far are very encouraging. Hopefully, I will have the same wonderful experience as y’all lovely people!
