Tunica, Mississippi

I'm not a gambler, but I still had fun

My friend and I went to Tunica in May to celebrate her birthday. I don’t gamble, but I still had a really good time. Tunica is a casino town, and from what I could tell, that is where everything happens, but you can still go to the casino without having to gamble a lot (or at all if you don’t want to). There are lots of concerts and shows going on, lots to eat and drink, and I was able to find several games that were more like playing arcade/video games than gambling.

If you are afraid you are going to gamble too much, set yourself a limit and walk away when you reach it. If you want to have any winnings to bring home, keep your winnings separate from your playing money, and don’t dip into them when you run out of money to play with.

It’s not a place I would probably visit again by myself unless there was a concert I wanted to see, but it was a really fun place to spend my friend’s birthday, and close enough to home to not take very long to get there, but far enough away to feel like I was actually getting away for the weekend (Something about crossing state lines, even if it is closer to home that some places in my home state!)

Dallas, Dallas County

The traffic was a little scary, but the place was fun

My ex-boyfriend surprised me with a weekend trip to Dallas when we were dating. We stayed with his uncle in the suburbs and did some Christmas shopping. I was really impressed with offerings there. The traffic was a little scary, so I’m glad he was the one driving and not me, but I had a lot of fun.

There was a lot we didn’t have time to do while we were there that I would love to go back and do.

Columbia, Missouri

Seemed like a nice town

I spent a few days here a few years ago with a friend whose mother had just moved to Columbia. It was Thanksgiving weekend, and we did some Christmas shopping. The town seemed like a nice place to live.
