I’m not sure why you would go to Mokena unless you already live here or are visiting someone who lives here. There’s nothing to do, which is fine with certain suburban types, you can go somewhere else for fun, let’s come home to a quiet place to sleep.

If you have kids and money, this is a nice place to be. The streets are quiet, everyone in the neighborhood knows you and you don’t have to be an over-protective hyper-mom about your kids, because there are always neighbors watching them.

Of course, your neighbors also watch you, and everything you do.

Low crime rate, nice houses and landscaping, lots of wetlands and there is a train line that runs right through here for commuting to Chicago.

But the sidewalks roll up at 9pm, and there’s nowhere to really go “out” to, and you’d better have a car if you want to go shopping for anything.

I lived in OlyWa for about 5 months in 2005. It was only due to my lack of finding a job that I moved on to another city. I loved Olympia, the people are all very nice and very interesting. It’s a different pace of life there. The land is very beautiful, and life is lived closer to the land there than in some other cities.
